Most of us just don’t keep with our Bible study, it’s not as though we don’t want to study, but the thing is we easily get distracted.

Sometimes we get started and then our minds wander off to the task of the day and sometimes we get distracted by someone dear to us, but the truth is God’s word is life to us, the more we read it, the more light is revealed to us.

So to kick out this habit of getting distracted while we study the Bible, I decided to write these post on Bible study hacks for the easily distracted.

Bible study hacks for the easily distracted

To avoid getting distracted during Bible study, there are several measures I have provided below to help out and this include:

1. Get a closet or study zone for your Bible study

The reason why you need a closet or a study zone is so as to be free from the distractions that come with studying your Bible in the sitting room or at work.

Create a closet or study zone in your home that is void of distraction, you can strictly tell your kids that whenever momma is in here, don’t come close.

Your study zone can also be a place of comfort outside your home, maybe your church or an amusement park, it depends on how feasible you are.

Just ensure your study zone or closet is void of distraction.

2. Fix a time for Bible study

Fixing a time entails that you map out a time that is very convenient for you, a time when the kids are still in bed or have gone out to play with the neighbors.

Your time should be a time when you can assimilate well, some persons assimilate well in the morning hours, some at noon, and some in the evening or night hours.

Depending on what time works best for you, just ensure you map out a time you can assimilate well and a time void of any distractions.

3. Start little

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little.”(Isaiah 28:10 NKJV)

Don’t go about reading a whole chapter of the Bible in 15 minute, you can be rest assured that you won’t get a thing from the scriptures.

Start little, you can decide to read a verse or two verses by day.

4. Get your Bible study notebook

Your Bible study notebook is one of the most important tool that is needed in your word study, as these helps you put down keywords and point that was ministered to you during the course of your Bible study.

Designing your Bible study notebook is quite simple, for more details on how to design your notebook, please click here.

You can place an order for your notebook below

5. Go along with all the items you will be needing for your Bible study

These include your Bible your pen, Bible, Bible study notebook, commentaries and concordance.

This is to avoid the distraction that comes with standing up to get them during Bible study.

6. Study a translation that you can easily understand

Study a translation that you easily understand so that you won’t spend half the time you are to spend studying the bible figuring out what certain words means.

I personally find the new king James version interesting and understandable.

7. Meditate

Meditating on God’s word brings out the light and life hidden in your scripture of choice, for more tips on how to meditate on God’s word, click here

8. Join a Bible study group

Join a group where everyone participate in the study of the Bible, a group where everyone has to say something about what they have learnt in the scripture of focus.

This is to keep you disciplined and accountable.

I am lucky that I have never been a person who easily withdraws, when I have a job I focus and I put all my attention on it.

These are good tips, not just for Bible study, but for anything you need to study or focus on. I have a hard time working at home and am easily distracted. Going somewhere, even just to my back porch, to be surrounded by nature really helps me.
