Maybe you have been w Iondering while flipping through the scriptures if Jesus was the tree of life in the garden of Eden?
What was its significance in the garden?
Let’s start by having an understanding of what the tree of life means in the bible.
The tree of life is embedded in Christ, He was present at creation, John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God” (with the understanding that the word is Jesus).
John 1:4 says “In him was life and the life was a light to all men (with the understanding that the life meant everlasting life)The tree of life means immortality (everlasting life, eternal life) and it was embedded in Christ.
I think for every word God spoke at creation, Jesus added life to it.
Why was the tree of life in the garden of Eden?
The tree of life was placed in the garden of eden by God, why? because there were certain heights or let me say standard men had to attain or get to before becoming immortal.
The criteria for the completion of the creating of man in his image was for man to attain immortality because God is immortal.
Why was the woman lured into eating of the tree of good and evil?
Man was not a corruptible seed until after the fall, the devil knew that if man ate of the tree of life he would become both incorruptible and immortal like the father, so he devised a strategy to make the seed corruptible, he had always rebelled, so he rebelled again by making the woman eat the tree of good and evil thereby corrupting the seeds, if man had stayed longer in the garden of Eden they would have eaten of the tree of life and there would have been a problem and we would have had a lot of Satans ( he is a corruptible seed and he is immortal).
One thing I have come to discover about God is that he is orderly, and for all of creation, there is a purpose for all the created.
The tree of life and the tree of good and evil were both positioned for a reason in the garden of eden and I think the fulfilment of their purposes were timed.
There was a prerequisite man had to attain before he could eat of the tree of life.
So what did God do to redeem man and to reinstate his original plan?
John 3:16 says “for God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life“.
Everlasting life means immortality (the God kind of Life).
What God did is this to reinstate his original plan, he sent his only begotten son in whom the tree of life was embedded in to die for us so that we might have everlasting life (immortality).
The reason why Jesus died was to establish that which was God’s original intention towards man from the beginning.
His intention was that “we might attain immortality (live forever) and be incorruptible as God. The seed of death was sown into man during the fall of Adam so God had to send Jesus to release the free gift of immortality because by one man’s disobedience man didn’t gain immortality, but by another man’s obedience, man will gain immortality.
1 Corinthians 15:21 “For since [it was] by a man that death came [into the world], it is also by a Man that the resurrection of the dead has come” .
Vs 22 “For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive”.
Vs 23 “But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then those who are Christ’s [own will be resurrected with incorruptible, immortal bodies] at His coming”.
1COR 15:21-23 AMP
God so loved man that all he ever wanted was for man to not only be like him but that man should live forever.
